My back left speaker isn't working - just makes a buzzing/snow sound. Any suggestions where I should start looking to diagnose? It's on a '91 20v 200 sedan. Thanks.

Take it back to an audi dealership. There was a safety recall for 1991 speakers.

If not subject to recall you can rebuild them, I also have factory replacement units if you want to go that way.

I'm WAY far away from an audi dealer...any idea how I would check to see if the recall was done? Can I look up a part number on the speaker or something?

Because it was a national saftey recall, Audi has to honor it for the life of the car, you only have to call the dealer (any dealer), and give the service manager the VIN and ask if there are any outstanding recalls open for it.

I just did it 2 months ago on my V8, and sure enought the cruise control reall was never done, made the app. and in it went ..thanks AOA for the free bushing for a car that you'll never see again ;-)

Where does one find out about current applicable recalls?

I called a local Audi dealer and gave my VIN and the answer was "nope" but.. well.. I have doubts.

Will the N..um.. NTSH(?) website have a listing if I throw in my VIN?

Bose amplified speakers never work. I took mine back to the dealer and even though the speakers were original the recall didn't come up when he ran my VIN and he sent me packing. Bastards, all of 'em. I just ripped the Bose stuff out last week and replaced it all with Alpine, you can re-use the wiring going from the dash out to the speakers. Finally, some sound other than whining and buzzing and chirping 1991 v8q
