Default Yup. My dad's got an '87 5000CS Turbo that he's going to be selling soon.

It was a great car, for allot of years. He's going to fix some of the small stuff, and then put it up for sale.

I would seriously look at buying that car when the time comes.

I have the same car in AT...dreaming of a 5 speed.

I'm sure that it will be "announced", when it's ready to go.

Default Saw one in the boneyard this past weekend, 5k turbo with 5 spd and no quattro

Had 270K miles but was totalled out with front and rear body damage. This is only the third one I have ever seen, 99 percent of the other turbos were Q's or autoboxes.

As a point of comparison, most of the autobox cars in the yards usually have 100K to 130K at the most. And no body damage, the tranny is the weakest link and just too expensive to repair when they croak and the car is that old...

Default torque steer ?

Are you sure? I mean Audi designs their drivetrains to eliminate torque steer from what I know. Look at the straight mounted engine(non transverse) and equal length axles. Very straight foward drivetrain. Somepeople do say they have torque steer, even on the non turbo cars but im guessing it may be an off alignment or just a worn front end. My Audi you can take your hands off the wheel, floor it and she just gos perfectly straight. But it could be with all the power that the FWD turbos had torque steer.

Yes, there are 5 speeds and I have a 1987 that I am thinking about selling.

I am the original owner of the car and reading from the window sticker, here are the particulars;

5000cs Turbo, 2.2 liter MC code engine, intercooler, oil cooler, leather sport wheel, 5 speed, stone gray metalic paint, gray full leather interior, electronic climate control, power sunroof, heated power front seats with memory, AM/FM stereo, cassette player, 60 watts, 10 speakers, rear headphone jacks, trip computer, cruise control and ski sack. You guys know all of the rest of the stuff.

Some things, tach, cruise control, power antenna, do not work at the moment.

The car has 281,000 miles on it with almost new tires. The paint is immaculate with 2 pin points of rust. The body has 2 shopping cart dings and car has never been wrecked. The car is on it's second clutch. I changed the clutch at 150K and the original was 40% used. I kept the original clutch just to show my friends. All of the windows are tinted but the rear is showing signs of peeling. This a non ABS car, the leather is absolutely immaculate with some very small signs of wear on the driver left side. The seats are heated and they work.

Over many years I have done a great deal of the work myself but warrantee and yes, recall work was done by the dealer.

The AC/heater works and I have a 1 lb can of R-12 that goes with the car. I have the original owners manuals as well as the original Bently and a log book and receipts of work, parts, gas, oil, filters, etc. I have a spare bomb that goes with the car.

I have not done a compression check but the car delivers over 30 mpg on the open road and about 23 mpg around town. It is a joy to drive and is still a very strong, fast car. You can chirp the tires!

At moment, I am undecided whether to fix the few problems or just sell it the way it is. Why sell? An A4 is in my dreams.

I would like to hear from the list on whether to fix and sell or just sell and what the value of the car is. I am not posting this anywhere else, I am just seeking thoughts at the moment.

Let me know what you guys think.

Default Re: torque steer ? Just drop the clutch.

You bet you will have torque steer...

My old 86 5k turbo 5sp FWD could pull your arms from your sockets. My wifes 200 turbo FWD withe the auto is not so bad. My current 92 100 12V has some but they did a much better job at controlling it.

Unfortunately, they are worthless on the used car market - even less than 5ktq's. I bought an '86 5kt 5-speed in good condition with 134K miles in 1997 for $1600.... still miss it sometimes.
