Default Disposing of my '90 200qa

I see there's some interest in this car, so I'd better make it's condition clear. Lets call it a eulogy, to a car I cared much for and which was a pleasure and privilege to own. It has about 250k on it, I've put 8 years and 150k on it. It was originally owned by a salesman from NY, it's condition indicated mostly highway mileage and good maintenance. I've maintained it with quality parts and synthetic lubricants, and drove it almost exclusively on the highway. Holland to Selfridge ANGB was 200 miles of easy highway. I avoided running local errands with it, to preserve it. My daughter took it over when she turned 16, four years ago, and she loved it. I bought her another car last spring, and the Audi has been driven occasionally since then.

The good:
-Bosch reman alternator 10/04
-Ignition Switch 9/05. The key doesn't match the doors. It's unfortunate I replaced the driver's door lock not long before, and matched that key to the other doors.
-Master Cylinder (and fresh syn brake fluid) 11/01
-Battery about 1-1/2 ago. Sam's club receipt taped to the battery for warranty.
-Euro lights. Left reflector has a piece cracked off, replacement is $!
-Sony CD stereo, about 2 years old, with factory speakers.
-Tires have about 1-1/2 years on them, but not much used this last year. Firestone Indy 500, all-weather, excellent in snow & ice.
-Black roofrack. Powdercoated last year. Despite my best efforts the blistered chrome texture shows through on the stanchions. I made new, aluminum tubes and stainless mounting screws.
-Front air dam is sweet.
-It gets a little over 25mpg at 78mph, my usual cruising speed.
-Timing belt at 190k by Holland Imports

The bad:
-Front ball joints. $90 each
-Bomb - PS pump blows the same O-ring twice a year, easy to replace, I keep them in the car. It's run Mobil 1 ATF for many years, changed regularly.
-Radiator. The neck broke off. $150
-Handbrake cable. I've replaced it many times, it keeps rusting and sticking. I have to replace the rear rotors every couple years because of this.
-Driver's seat heater quit this winter
-Left, rear window inop
-Rear door tweeter fell out, it's in the glove box.
-Rear hatch lock doesn't work with the key, never has, works with the power locks.
-Engine tick, sounds like an exhaust manifold crack or gasket leak, no change since I've owned it.
-Oil pressure and coolant temp sensors haven't worked for many years, except on occasion.
-Air conditioning clutch is bad, I've removed the belt. I put a used clutch on many years ago, it was pretty easy.
-Rear hatch struts bad, one strut mount has broken off.

The Ugly:
-Headliner is beginning to sag in the back
-Rust. It's begun around the front and rear windows, not much, but not good.
-Cracks in dash, top front, where I used to hit the dash to make the speedo work. My ring apparently caused the cracks when the dash was bitterly cold, that really bummed me out. Instrument cluster since replaced, but the cracks are there.
-Crack in right-rear taillight, not very noticeable.

Spare Parts:
-Driver's side power mirror assembly, heater but no glass. I can easily make a mirror.
-Used fuel pump, I replaced it because it was buzzing.
-Used ISV.

My plans are to pull the eurolights, wheels, and stereo, to sell. It's parked at work, not drivable, but I have a truck and tow strap, and a couple flat-bed trailers at work I could use. And a forklift if it comes to that. I'd take $500 for it as is, saving me some trouble selling the parts. The interior is blue with sport seats. The engine starts easily, runs well, has never had a serious problem. I know there are a few of you who'd like parts, I don't have a place to keep it to part it out. Jim Bush is about a mile from my house, if he and Steve want the remains that'll work out well.

What makes it undrivable? Can it be driven onto the flatbed? What's your email? Or email me by just clicking on my name on this posting.

Default The radiator makes it undrivable, it can drive onto a flatbed.

It won't be drivable if I take off the wheels, but the wheels could be taken off on the flatbed. You can e-mail me at macatawa@hotmail.com, call me at 616-335-8884. You're a bit far north, a month from now I might've dropped it on the way to Boyne! Steve Ankney said he'd like to fix it up, and some parts in it came from him, so I'll give him dibs on it. Chances are he and Jim Bush will do something good with it.

Default It'll keep. I stopped at Jim's earlier, he's around.

I go by your house every Monday morning on my bike, going from Ridgpoint to work. The car looks great.

Default Send me an email with tel #

I'm interested and located on the north side. My thought is that it can be brought back to reasonable driving condition for my wife. Maybe I can talk Jim B into doing all the work.

Default If you part it out . .

Let me know, I'd love to have the front spoiler and the powdercoated roofrack.
