Default Here it goes again

Ok so i know its been asked a million times but im going to do it again because from what i can find all my questions arent answered. Audi 200 to V8 front end swap. Now to start i am thinking of this because i got a free V8 in my hands and a buddy is using motor and suspension parts so im taking the interior and body. I have a 91 200 20 valve and like the look of the v8 better. so i wanted to know first off if anyone has a write up or pics of someone who did this. i would like pics of the steps involved not the finished product. now i plan on swapping the hood, lights, fenders and bumper. im pretty sure hood will fit well but are the fenders on a v8 of different size and do they have different mounting points. what mods do i need to do to attach the bumper and lights. ive seen tons of people say different things so please be confident in your post. once again sorry for the repeat but im starting the take the idea a lot more seriously now.

well, this is what I know....

if you want to do just the hood, you can without changing anything, except swapping out for some non-turbo(100) headlights so they match the curve of the hood.

if you want to do the fenders, you will need to get the core/radiator support from the car as well.

Hood goes right on as long as you get angled lights. I have a 200q20v avant with a V8 hood. I used non-turbo E-lights. I haven't tried fitments, but the V8 lights might work OK.

Fenders are a big difference. V8 fenders will bolt in place, but they lack the bottom below the 200's trim line behind the wheel, and they lack the lower part in front where your 200's supports help keep the sheetmetal stiff. They won't match up with the 200 bumper.

To use a V8 bumper, you need the front frame horns from a V8 welded onto the front of the 200 frame rails. Then you need to figure out a way to support the intercooler plumbing hardware.

So, you can use a V8 hood easily. Lots of fabricating to use the fenders and bumper.

To me it sounds like it would be worth it to just replace the hood. What 100 lights do i need? pre or post 91

And is the hood latch the same for that?

V8 hood latch matches up with the 200 core support. The release lever on the driver side of the hood works the same.

Looking at the lights on one of our V8s makes me think they'd install the same in the 200. But I haven't actually matched up V8 lights in the 200 because I used E-lghts for a nonturbo 5000.

You'd need the earlier car's lights if your V8 lights are no good.

the v8 lights will bolt right in, however the curve on the edge where it meets the fender is different.. It's more rounded IIRC. look into getting pre 91 100 euro lights, there's a guy selling something like that on ebay for a decent deal, not really E-codes, but better than the t44 DOT ones..

Well i was taking a closer look and the side of the lights wont fit in the 200 fender the fender would actually need cut a little bit. so i will just look around for 100 lights. i found a few good deals on ebay.

Does any one have a detailed description and or pics of how to do the bumper swap?

you want to put a V8 front clip/fenders on your 200q20v?

wouldn't that make the rear wheel wells look weird - because they won't be flared like the fronts?
