Default I sold my '91 100

Actually, I gave it to my in-laws who used it as a trade-in on a new Nissan Versa. The car was not being driven much by my daughter and it ended up being an extra car since my company gives me a vehicle to use.

I had it for close to 5 years and enjoyed every moment. And a big reason for that was the help I was able find through this forum. Granted, I seldom posted messages, but when I did everyone was quick to offer help and suggestions. The information available through this site and others such as SJM made it a pleasure to own, drive, and even wrench on. Thank you to each and all.

Have a merry Christmas (or any other holiday you might be celebrating this time of year) and a Happy New Year.

Dave

Do you mind if I ask how much they got for it on trade-in??? I've been trying to sell my 91' 100 for a few months now with no luck. The car is too nice to junk, but with 191K on it, no one wants to bite.

Default Trade-in Value

Gordie,

The dealer gave me $400 for the car. This was a non-quattro with 279k on the odometer. While the body and suspension were very solid and the cloth seats and interior was in unbelievable shape, it was in need of a new bomb, the headliner was sagging, the AC hadn't worked in a few years, the left rear window motor was seized, and the steering rack needed a rebuild (torn boots, etc.). All stuff that I could fix, or ignore because it wasn't critical, but with a son in college and a daughter on her way next year I didn't have the time or money to put into a spare vehicle.

jurq,
Having grown up on VW's and driven this Audi, I would be surprised if I didn't have another one at some point.

Default An Audi company car?

I work for a roofing contractor so everbody drives pick-up trucks or SVU's. Not my style! But I was able to talk them into a Subaru Outback. I prefer to think of it as a Subaru Quattro! With our own mechanics, state inspection center, and gas pumps it's a sweet deal.

As much as I hated to get rid of the Audi, and felt it was worth a little more than $400, it was not being driven very much. The savings in insurance and the lack of effort in "selling" it made the decision a little easier.

Happy Festivus!
