interference engine?
Whether this was by design, or whether those instances were just sheer luck on the part of the owners, I don't recall.
However, there has been some debate on the Qlist that at high speeds/rpm's there could be some valve train damage on these engines. Personally, I've seen 2 N/A type 44 cars with broken timing belts and all they needed was a timing belt job and they were good to go. No valve train damage...
The turbo engined I5, the 20 valve I5 and the V8 are all interference engines of course...
