Re: Overheating V8....All fans work!!!!!
You get Ron to do the TB for the Porsche parts car, and he'll tell you where the T-stat hides LOL.
Actually, it's behind the connection point for the lower hose, #6 below.

Overheated? Continues to overheat?
Hate to say this but it could be a blown head gasket. If you have some head warpage from the overheat it could allow the head gasket to blow - happened to my 5ktq when I first got it.
Pull the plugs and see what colour they are - whitish or orangish deposits can mean head gasket failure. There are a number of other non-invasive tests you could try I've posted a few times in the past (inspection mirror, condensate in jar).
Cheers!

Sorrrrry.

I live in the same town as Jonathan....it must be an Audi Bermuda Triangle...the Ancaster Audi Triangle? Maybe.
Sometimes blown hg's can be very sneaky.....no real mass mixing of the oil and coolant, no masses of white smoke at the tailpipe...but...huge coolant pressures (can result in blowing old heater valves, hoses, rads) and high operating temps (fan continually cycles). Pulling the plugs with the engine up to temp (careful!) holding an inspection mirror over the plug holes - fog=leak. Also, collect condensation in a jar from the tailpipe when up to temp (might be hard to do in summer's warm temps) - put in freezer. Still liquid the next day=leak.
Hopefully I'm wrong and it's just the t-stat.
Cheers!
