You can get a decent orbital buffer from sears for about 60$ or so. My dad has a craftsman one he got on a 50% off tool sale that has served him real well. It came in a kit with additional pads and wheels and a few other accessories (handle, extension cord, case) and it only cost 50 or 60$. If you just need the orbital, they retail for about 80$ normally. Sales are pretty common though.
That's what I'm going to be doing.

Harbor Freight sells a rotary buffer for about $30. I know a lot of people can do great things with DA's and Meguiars new MF system, but anything outside of that and you'll not be able to correct as well as with a rotary. Plus, DA's really fatigue your hands/arms very quickly.

I have a random orbital from sears. I probably would not have purchased this exact model as it is a car care only type item where the porter cable is a little more robust. But someone got it as a gift for me about 10 years ago, I've never had a problem with it and it functions very well. Mine from 10 years ago still looks like what they currently sell. I think mine was around $60 for the kit with the different compound covers and such.
Anyhow its been reliable.

Funny enough I picked up the10" 50 dollar model with the extra pads on sale at Sears today and had enough day light to do the front half of the car. It's much better than the Walmart one I had a run in with last year. The cut compound would have been easier to do by hand but the final polishing came out pretty good with this unit...better than by hand and My wrists are thanking Me for it. . Got 3 coats of megiures yellow finish polish on the hood and two coats on the fenders. I think 5-6 coats total will make Me happy.

Well I took it down to woodward tonight for some test runs and pulls. It smokes a little bit due to the bad turbo seals but what I thought was a wastegate is apparently the turbo "fluttering".....My friend with a saab 9-3 seems to think it means my BOV isn't working correctly but I thought these cars weren't supposed to have BOVs and had wastegates instead? I come from superchargers so turbos are new to me.
