Default No Radiator Fan '90 100

'90 100. My radiator fan quit today, or, I noticed it today. I don't have the fan at any speed, with or w/o AC on. I don't have a Bentley for the 100/200 series, but I understand that there is a fuseable link for the fan. Can anyone tell me where it is?

The fusible link is just a metal strip, in the area near brake master cylinder on the driver side wheel well (above the black rubber cover for the steering link hole). Make sure it is not severely coroded. If that checks out OK, pull the connector plug at the bottom of the radiator. Short 2 of 3 existing terminals and turn the ignition contact on. If the fan runs you found the problem - the sensor at the bottom of the radiator. If still not, before you check the wiring per schematic, check the 70A relay in the auxiliary relay panel (driver side kick panel). Essentially except for the fusible link the system is the same as on yours 85 5000S.
Hope this helps,
Zoran in Toronto

Default don't forget the 'ol resistor pack

but the following site has a pic of the resistor pack. A must-have bookmark and read-through.

http://www.sjmautotechnik.com/cooling.html#fuse</a

I have a few spare resistor packs in case I need to swap one out. That would have been my first thought if I was stuck at one fan speed. Since it doesn't operate at all I assumed a power failure somewhere. Haven't traced it yet.

Default I lost the radiator fan on my '86 5K......

replacing the sensor that screws in the back at the bottom of the radiator solved the problem. If I remember it is kinda hidden under the bottom radiator hose, so hard to see, but easily felt by hand under the hose. Easy to R&R. I would replace that sensor first. Regards, Rooster

Default The cure..

It turned out to be the fusible link. It looked more corroded than burned and it fell apart when I took it out. Naturally there were no replacements in small town Massachusetts. So, here is what I did. I found a Buss fusible link (80 amp) part number FLM-80. I have no idea of the intended application. But it had two copper prongs so that it appears that it is meant to plug into a board. The prongs are drilled. So I bent 90 degree angles in the prongs and screwed it in where the bar link went. Works fine, except I can't close the cover.
