Outside Temperature Gauge Inaccurate
#3
One of the 2 sensors had failed
I had seen that problem before. The system has 2 sensors and takes the reading of the one with lower value. One sensors is just in front of the A/C condenser beside front grill, the other one is on the top of the evaporator plenum close to the windshield and passenger side fender. Locate both, and just unplug one at the time, and turn the ignition on. If the reading of the temp. display shows accurate reading you had found the faulty sensor, if still the same, plug back the disconnected connector, and do the same procedure for the other sensor. Wiring and control head are also involved, but I I had never seen a failed control head. Also, if you wish you can ohm out both sensors per Bentley's temperature chart, which would bring you to same outcome.
