Default Overboosting??

Hey guys...I have a problem with my 89 200TQ...one was the 4K rev-limiter type thing.

Now...it's overboosting! Is the diaphram the guilty culprit? when I got the car if I kept pushing the car in 4th I would get up to 1.4 bar, but today I pushed it and I hit 1.6 clearly past the max which is 1.3 I believe and my car is stock.

Would changing the diaphram fix this?

PS Also today on the highway...hear something a little ricey, turns out to be a old Jetta around '90 I guess and with a wing, no ridiculous but a wing nontheless.
Anyway it passes me and I see the rear end. 4 rings??? I almost died laughing and he was driving alone speeding and I had 4 people with me and decided to show him what 4 rings REALLY do. So I raced him and spanked the crap out of it.
And also I hit 110mph+ twice today! damn that car really pulls to 100 quick

Oh well, later!

The fat hose coming from the lower wastegate could also cause overboost. It is one of those fabric covered rubber lines that can look OK, but be cracked and crumbling underneath. Replace with something similar and go for a test drive.

I love it how you were the guy who was shifting at 7000 rpm with the auto box 5k, and now your new 200TQ can't even pass 4000 rpm. hehehe..
Well I bet the overboosting problem is related to it not passing 4k rpm. There must be a simple enough fix. I want to hear about these 7000 rpm shifts once again. You must fix it :-)
Btw- Cheers to the tripple digits and showing riced out jetta boy whos boss!

Could be:

torn lower wastegate hose(the fabric one Tim mentioned)

torn wastegate diapraghm

stuck wastegate valve

leaking vacum line to ECU

torn hose to WGFV
