Seat Belt Replacement
Hello my sons 1990 V8 seat belt needs to be replaced. There is a cable that is attached to the gears on the seat belt.
The cable runs through the fire wall around a bracket then it travels above the transmission where i loose track of it.
Does any one know where it attaches too.
I am thinking that it attaches to the transmission somewhere ? in the event you are in a accident and the motor move it locks in the belt ?
Thank you.
Geoff

You are correct.
The car is equipped with Procon-Ten that has cables attached to the transmission and engine. The idea is that in an accident the engine and tranny drop, the steering wheel retracts, and the front seatbelt pretensioners lock up. Or some derivation on the theme.
So you will probably want to stay away from those cables, unless you intend on disabling Procon Ten.
A quick search on Google will give you a commercial (in German) that illustrates Procon Ten and a Wikipedia article as well.
Hope that helps.
