Strange inquiry ? :)

Re: Strange inquiry ? :)
Not a strange one. My UrQ used to take 5-12 seconds, before I finally straightened out the igniton and fueling systems. It used be be particularly bad in sub freezing temps. Now it starts pretty much instantly, more so cold than hot. My other turbo I5's take a second or 2. Some manuals call for a slightly cracked throttle, others none. If your takes a "long" time to start, you have a few things to debug that can get you better performance..

Some ideas...
It could be a leaky injector relieving fuel pressure when the car is turned off.
It could be a hose around the fuel pump - loose clamp or cracked hose.
My Alfa had a really long crank that continued to get worse. It turned out that a common failure of these cars was a 2" piece of hose on the fuel pump. $.60 to fix and 4 hours of labor. One thing I noticed was with a full tank of gas it didn't crank quit as long.
With all that said, I've heard that injector leaks might be your problem. Do you burn a little oil on start up?
