Default Nope, 3 speed 087

Overdrive didn't come until 89 or 90 with the 4 speed auto in the 100.

Default Apparently you still have doubts........

Check the vehicle data sticker in the trunk (probably on the inside of the lid). Look for eng.code/trans.code you should see WU and RDN or RDG,RDE,RDU,RDX). These are the 3 speed auto tranny (type 087) code letters.

Then check the tranny on the drivers side, on a flat surface very close to where the speedo cable enters into the housing, you should see a stamped tranny ID #, and the beginning should be RDN, or RDG, RDE....

If you don't see the same code letters as the sticker in the trunk then somewhere, sometime, a tranny swap was made with a slightly differing version. And who knows, if the code letters on the tranny is CDT, then someone threw in a 4 speed (it will bolt right up).

If the code letters indicate a 3 speed, you may want to have a tranny shop check it out, what you may be feeling is a slipping band or clutch, gear, etc.
