Default V8 needs some work for certification...

Front rotors, rear claipers, E-brakes.

Any brake suggestions? I might as well redo them all.

Are the rotors the same as the '89 200s?

If the brakes were recalled then they have the G60's so any rotor from 87 5kq's-S4's will work.
Rear calipers are the same as the 200 20V's & S cars. Just got a set of rebuilds from Semple for $115.
E-brake cable are like $30 each or so.
Heres a brake suggestion for you,
Get a pair of Rs caliper brackets, S8 rotors, brake lines, & Porsche calipers & do a real brake upgrade.
I did it & everything cost under $800. Money well spent!!
Thanks
Ron

Default That's what I'm talkin' about...

So just to be clear...

1) RS Caliper Brackets? Porsche RS?

2) S8 Rotors and brake lines?

3) Porsche Calipers?

Got part numbers for any of these for me? I'll orser it up next week if I can get the parts right. Your experience sounds very valuable indeed. If you've got to rebuild you might as well upgrade in my books. H&R springs cost me as much for all 4 corners as Audi OEM would have for just the two fronts.

I'm all over it if you've got the PNs for me.

Thanks loads!

For that matter, could I put the 200 brakes on the V8 just to get it certified? I'd rip 'em back off for the upgrade and return FrnakenAudi to running... er um... better make that stopping condition.

1) You'll need Rs2 caliper brackets 8A0 615 125 A.
I got mine from Alex at europrice.
2) A8-S8 rotors (to use the 993tt) calipers you have to use the 323x30 rotors,
these are for the later A8-S8's.
But (to use the 996 non turbo) calipers use the smaller rotor from the eirlier A8's I think(?) they are 314x?. Not to sure cause I don't use those rotors.
But I got my rotors on the marketplace on this site (audiworld) not the audifans marketplace.
& the brake lines I'm using are Earls SS brake lines the # is 63010110 -3st/st 10" hose.
Caliper adaptors 592032ERL -3 to 10 MMF.
& the brake line adaptors 989534ERL -3 to 10 MMF.
3) I'm using Porsche 993tt BigReds. Got the first set from Cresent City Porsche in New Orleans. But from my understanding they aren't selling them for $300 EACH NEW anymore. But I got the 2nd set I got from LA Porsche dismantlers. $400 for the pair used.
Brake pads & fluid I got from E-bay. Get a good pad don't use a cheap pad cause you'll pay for it later with the squeeling noise! I'm using Hawk & a good race brake fluid to flush everything out.

A few things though.
To mount the Rs caliper brackets to the hub you can use your existing bolts from the old brackets. But you'll have to get the caliper mounting bolts from were you got the calipers from or from the dealer. With the 2nd set of calipers I got from LA Porsche dismantlers I just asked the guy to through them in as well. But the bolts are cheap enough anyway.
Hope this helps.
Thanks
Ron

Default Perfect.. I used to get my Porsche parts at Performance Products...

They have since joined up with Automotion I think.

That's great info. Thanks loads.

Will the stock 15" rims still fit or do I have to buget for new rims too?

No way will the stock 15" rim work or any 15" rim for that matter.
I use 17" 02 S4 Avus rims. But am gettin the OZ Supperlegras very soon!
I've heard some 16" rims will work like the Urs6 rims,
But I allso heard some need spacers. In any event go with a 17" rim & since they are going on the V8 use 235/45/17" tires. They will keep the speedo correct!
Thanks
Ron

Yah those will work. They call them "Big Blacks". But I would hold out for another set. You can get them cheaper. I got (Both times) the "Big Reds".
Check out there web site
they usually have more on there.
Thanks
