Default WGFV and output tests

Decided to check the output tests to see if my WGFV is doing its thing. Everything else clicks, buzzes and whatnot, but the WGFV doesnt do anything. Is it a slight buzz/click, or what does it do? I replaced it with a used unit I got from a friend (stock 5ktq WGFV). After replacing the WGFV my boost is still at 4psi and stays steady.
Just wondering what this thing is supposed to do when I do my output tests.

*note, i may have gotten the output/input test lingo messed up, but either way, i was doing the test that checks the CSV, fuel pump, etc..*

Default Re: WGFV and output tests

During the test WGFV suppose click and also if you touch it you can feel it works. But low boost problems could be much more complex than as described at SJM.

Default Another question...

Mainly regarding the O2 sensor. Im using a stock 4kq O2 sensor (pretty new). Wasnt sure if it mattered that I wasnt using the stock 5ktq one?

Odd question, but Im curious.

Default O2 should be fine. Try bypassing the WGFV like I suggested before to see...

if you can make full boost. Doing this you will slam into the fuel cut overboost protection so modulate your foot carefully. If you can make full boost you'll feel it in the seat of your pants.

Default I'll try that...

IF I hit full boost, what does that tell me? WGFV is faulty?

Default It tells you that....

your car can hit full boost. The question then is 'why not?' Your description of the WGFV test does not inspire confidence in your replacement part.

If you can hit full boost then start with the list at SJM's site. It is very comprehensive and there really is no substitute to going through it to ensure correct operation. Have you pulled codes?
