what up with the 5k rpm cut out?
granted, i could search but its the weekend
both my 5k and the the gf's 4k cut and die well before redline around 5k...the heck is this?
wrong fp relay has been suggested but i wonder why anyone would put the wrong freakin relay in at all....just odd its in both cars...unless 5 cyl fp relays are of titanium and made by some secret tribe of elves in middle earth,

Re: Seriously now....is it really timing? Can't be.....it's both cars, same motor....
Hit 5200rpm and you could get whiplash or whack your head against the wheel.....if these were turbo cars I could see why but not in cheesy underpowered NA's....should be able to rev these things all the way to the indicated red zone.....not that I need to but if I ever HAVE to it'd be nice.

If you are seeing the CEL flash dimly at times
The first thing I would check is the connections on the Knock sensor (probably on the back of the valve cover).
ECU checks this at > 3000 and if it doesn't see what it likes it puts timing advance into default mode - the engine lays down and takes a break.
