What's the gap from radiator end tank to left fender?
Today I replaced the metal radiator that was in my 88 5000CSTQ with a Valeo plastic / aluminum radiator. (Seems to be OE quality.)
After I'd finished the job, I realized that the old radiator had no "gasket" between its end tank and the inside of the left front fender, so I'd not installed one on the new radiator. I probably should have, to tightly seal the plenum in front of the radiator. Does anyone remember roughly how large the gap is between the radiator end tank and the inside of the front left fender?

Yeah. weatherstripping makes sense, but it's almost inaccesible
Someday I'll try accessing it via headlight removal. Otherwise, it's slide the PS Pump out of the way . . .
On the bench, I spun both the fan motor that was in the car (new in 1999) as well as the fan motor that I rebuilt last year. The freshly rebuilt one spun a little easier, so I installed it in the car, together with the 7-blade fan that was in the car (to my surprise). Also installed a couple new hoses.

Re: Thanks! (That's a big leak in the plenum.)
On my 91 200 20v I forgot to install the rubber seal on the end-tank too. I was able to loosen the wheelwell liner and slide the rubber piece in from the bottom edge. It is about 5/8 to 3/4' thick and I thought was just used for anti-vibration rather than an air-seal until you posted this! My plastic endcap had a tab that the seal slid onto but my metal endcap did not have provision for the seal at all.

Do you think there would be much of a loss of air flow through the radiator
without it? Prolly the left wheel well plastic liner can be removed to gain access? I'll have to take a look.

Without the seal there's less pressure differential across the radiator
I don't know how significant this would be, but I'm sure that it does make a difference, depending upon how easily air flows through the condensor / radiator: if it flows easily, the leak won't matter much; if it doesn't flow easily through the radiator / condensor (which I suspect is the case), it will be significant.
I'll need to search my shop to see if I have a seal; otherwise, I'll hunt in a junkyard, I guess. Do you have a seal?
I've never removed the plastic fender liner, but that sounds like it might work.
