So, I noticed yesterday that the 5kq was making a noise. Its very faint, coming from the front end. Its speed related, not RPM or gear related. Applying the brakes doesn't affect the noise. Applying the throttle doesn't do anything (ie not load dependant). "Warming up the tires" (weaving side-to-side on the road) does not change the noise. Increasing road speed increases the pitch, but not the volume. It is BARELY audible, turning on the HVAC to "Low" covers up the noise actually.

Odd things:
-Noticed heavier metallic particles on the F-L wheel mixed in with brake dust. Outer pad looks new, inner pad no clue. Rotor looks ok on the outer friction surface. Have not replaced the rotor/pads EVER in the past 7? years.
-CV boots (all 8) are fine.
-Center support bearing mount looks ok, rubber not funny.
-Center prop shaft U-joint probably needs greased (fair amount of grease splattered radially from that general joint/bearing area).

I'm taking a better look tomorrow, namely at the inner brake pads and shields.

I had 14 of these 5000's from 85-87's. They where my fleet for the Sales staff. Diff oil was Always dissapearing. No leaks..Just gone. I had one run dry..It croaked. (locked up!) All needed wheel bearings at 100k. a few need the volacity joint on the drivers axle.
