That was one of the price quotes i received from a Insurance recommended auto glass shop. $1800 including tax+installation. Craaazzzyy! I still have that quote.
I found a new auto glass place and they gave me a $470 out of the door quote. (parts, labor, tax, all included) This is for a German windshield with built in antena.
I'm speechless.

When you see the signs that say "Free tank of gas with new windshield"
Now you know where the money comes from. Call any glass place and ask for the price of a windshield. The response is "Is this covered by insurance?" If you say no, you get a price about 50% lower.
The last one I had replaced with insurance was $800.00. No antenna.
Here insurance rates are set by the state. The companies are allowed a profit. So, what do they care what the loss costs are? If losses are high, the state raises the rates so that the companies earn the profit they are entitled to. Insurance costs here are crazy, but the state is "taking care" of us.

"Free tank of gas?" Guess I've been playing too much Battlefield 1942 latelycause this makes me wish
I had a "free tank of steel" so I could lob a few shells and see what effect it has on their "free tank of gas"

get this here in uk main dealer dose it for £88 x it by 1.6 or there abouts for $$ something that is cheeper from main shock horror lol if you want me find out to ex-port to you in us i can try cheers mat
