Default Would this contribute to a vapor lock problem?....

Would having the air intake boot (the thing that to me looks like a turtle shell and sits over the sensor plate on the pass side by the fuel lines )cracked on the small end where the pipe enters it cause a vapor lock problem? Now that the warm weather is here I'm starting to get it again for the first few minutes of a "warm start". My mechanic says this is a bad design that can't be fixed. I have a hard time believing that they told the original owner of a $29,000.00 car in 1987 that they had to endure this. I have dealt with this since I've bought the car. It's not major but enough to annoy me. Car does not appear to have leaky injectors. Starts up very quick. New Cat, fuel filter, fuel pump, ck valve etc..Anyone else with a Turbo having this problem? TIA

I'd think it could definately cause a vacuum leak

Default Sounds like unmetered air may be entering your engine through the crack.

This is not a good thing.

Replace the cracked rubber igloo. IIRC, a new one costs less than $50.00.

I'll order a new one. I hope this fixes it. Wouldn't you think that this would cause me a problem year round? Or is the car able to compensate in the colder weather? Also, the pipe goes past the crack a little bit but I doubt it's a good seal.

Compensates via cold start injector. My bet is with Russ.
