12V led updates anyone??
#3
i need to go find/buy more varietys of LED. & then yesterday my soldering iron bit the dust =(
so I'm kinda dead in the water until i get a replacement iron.
Otherwise i sorta determined that for LED's to be practical, you'll need large mili-candella output with like a 120* or more illumination circle. Before my iron quit I had been experimenting with only 80 & 120mcd LED's of a varrying output angles. I have some at 600+mcd but only 20" projection angle... and plus the iron broke before I had a chance to set those up.
so yea, by tomorrow I'll have more LED's and hopefully a borrowed iron. Then I'll be able to get back to work. If you can find any, I think an 800+mcd w/180* projection angle LED would be perfect. Though up until now I'm still of the mindset that we'll haveta pad the gauges in some areas, b/c the LED's don't really fix the hotspot issue.
But as Miktip said, we'll all be posting more once we have sucessful designs
check yah later
