I placed a fuse in the 215(fuel pump relay) fuse intregal for 4 seconds as i was told to do to check for problem codes but the cel light does not illuminate. also having cold start problems in the a.m. could this possibly be my fuel pump relay not working? Thanks....

If the relay is shot you won't get any power to the pump. Your cold start issue could be the cold start injector which uses the 2 pin white Bosch water temp sensor in the coolant hardline to measure coolant temp to determine if enrichment is needed. The injector itself rarely fails, the sensor does after a decade+.
If the relay has never been replaced it could be flaky.

I've already been through this with my 88, both the relay and sensor.

Thanks for the info. I can hear the fuel pump when i turn the key so i assume that its working. Once i start it in the morning it ususally starts up on the first try the rest of the day if the temp outside is not too cold. Oh yes my idle is erratic also. jumps from 1000 to 800/900 rpms when idling. would this be related to the coolant temp sensor also? Thanks!!

Sounds like a CTS issue.
Also would recommend cleaning the ISV.

I replaced the ISV already. So I will focus on the CTS next. Thanks for your input. Peace.

I replaced the sensor yesterday. it started on the first try, but as i drove it the temp gauge stays below the "c" and it seemed to be getting hot. i do not have a thermostat in this car. could that be the problem with the guage? also i put the old sensor back in and the gauge works fine. It shot up cause the engine was hot. I was pretty excited when it started up on the first try. it hadnt done that in years. but i started it this morning and it started but died out. like it looses compression. Sorry for the rambling on im just a little frustrated. Thanks for your time.
