Default 20vt: Not running right, codes finally appeared.

As I posted before, my engine seems to lose power under full throttle in any gear above 2nd.

I was driving today and my check engine light came on for a second, so when I got home, I retrieved the codes:

2111: Engine Speed Sensor
2224: Over-boost situation
2432: Oxygen Sensor

I don't know why the engine speed sensor code is coming up. If the sensor wasn't working, the engine wouldn't even start. But it starts, so I don't know what's up there.

The overboost one has got me confused too. I'll double check the wastegate solenoid and make sure it works right.

As for the Oxygen sensor one, I took the O2 sensor out of my 80 and put it on the new engine. I still have the one I took off the 3B, and might try swapping them again. My question is, would the O2 sensor cause a problem like the one I described above? I've got a few more things I want to try, but let me know what you know. Thanks.

Default So I should put the one that came with my engine back on it?

The only reason I switched them was because the one that came on it had the wires cut. Does it matter which white wire goes where? I know the black wire is important.

Default Update...

I performed the ECU output test and the wastegate solenoid is working fine, so I don't know why I am still overboosting. I do have reason to believe that my wastegate has had a TAP spring installed (ECU had TAP chip installed, spring and chip go together). If so, that would account for the overboost condition. I still don't know why my engine speed sensor code showed up. I have found out that I should not have swapped the O2 sensors and will switch them back. That should aco**** for the O2 sensor code I got, but i am doubtful that accounts for my power loss. I am putting my car on an engine analyzer later this week, maybe I've got bad plug wires or something. The analyzer will tell me if I am running on all 5 cylinders. That is my latest suspect. Last thing I will check is fuel pressure. Maybe i'm due for a new pump/filter.

Default 2111 engine code and more...

2111 means that you checked the codes with the engine off, so skip that one. The O2 Sensor code means what it says, so address that. The over-boost code can be caused by all kinds of things, but here are the most likely culprits:

1. You have a leak in the turbo exit hose. This is the funky hose that also leads to your bypass valve and to your crossover pipe/intercooler. I know you don't have an intercooler, but you should know which hose I'm talking about. Check all other vacuum/pressure lines as well. Do you have a bypass valve? Does it work?

2. You don't have a good vacuum connection between the back of the manifold and your ECU. Perhaps the hose blew off (common), or the line crimped while you were messing with the ECU.

3. It could be a poor electrical connection at the MAF.

I think one of the first two are most likely.

Good luck!

Default I checked the codes with the engine running...

The engine was running while I checked the codes, and it had been for at least 10 minutes before, never shut off in between. I have since erased the codes, and driven to my school and back. When I got home, I did not have any codes (4444).

At the moment, I am waiting for the exhaust to cool down so I can swap the O2 sensor back out with the one that came in the engine (don't know what I was thinking).

I will double check the turbo exit hose. The end was cut off when I got it so there is currently a pipe stuck way up inside with a hose clamp. I will likely add another hose clamp. There is a good chance I am losing air at higher RPM/Boost levels, causing my loss of power due to wrong fuel mixture/loss of boost. Thanks.
