Default 90 Coupe Quattro window regulator

A plastic window pulley on my driver's door failed and the dealer wants $500 for a window regulator assembly. I understood that Mountain Auto was rebuilding these but they seem to be out of business. Any thoughts on what to do? It seems a shame to have to replace the entire frame assembly because of a $.50 plastic pulley.

You should be able to get the whole assembly at your local yard for cheap. Just remove the pulley.

Default Audi Engineers knew it would fail...........

<center><img src="http://www.audiquattroparts.com/Body%20Parts/window1.jpg"></center><p>Options(BTDT!)-

1- You can get the reg "rebuilt" for around $150.
It may last another year before the cable breaks or motor goes.

2- Find one at a salvage yard for around $100 -$150, and since thats a "used" reg who knows how long it will last?

3- Rebuild yourself, usually last like #1.

4- Purchase a "worm-gear"(newer style-see pic) reg from The Parts Connection (www.thepartsconnection.com)
for around $150, and watch that reg last for 6+ years or more!(Mine were 6+ years old when I sold my Audi Coupe, Still worked fine!)

I've rebuilt several regs, and they dont last more than a year. Usually another part fails.

The Worm-gear regs are the way to go as they use no cable!

Do the worm!<ul><li><a href="http://www.thepartsconnection.com">http://www.thepartsconnection.com</a</li></ul>

Thanks for the help, MikTip. Is the Worm unit a direct replacement or do I need to fabricate anything to make it work? What model Audi was it actually designed for? NormCQ

Default Their "direct replacement" for the OE cable units.(more)

<center><img src="http://store4.yimg.com/I/rodi_1645_12688261"></center><p>The ones I purchased for my Coupe, and recently my 93 90, required me to drill a small hole for one of the mount bolts. That was it. You'll need to adjust the upper and lower stops, but thats easy too.

What I did extra, to ensure longevity, was to lube the worm gear section with some good synth grease! The original grease looked rather flimsy.......

Could you give me the part # and details on the worm gear drive. I called the parts connection and they did not know.

Shokan is rebuilding them now. 1-800-All-Audi. They're $280 but that beats the crap out of $800, which is what the dealership out here wanted.
