95 audi 90 ABS off light on. Help!

95 audi 90 ABS off light on. Help!
Just picked up this car from my friend. it needed axles so i replaced them. The car was driving great for a while, but on the way home today the abs off light came on. Right before it came on the breaks made that slipping noise when i stopped, followed by the light turning on. I turned off the car and its not on anymore. Anyone know what this could be?
