Default Air intake to throttle body connection; greased?

I'm trying to hunt down what I suspect is a fairly major air leak.

I noticed on a parts car that I had that there was a fairly healthy dose of grease on the connection from the air intake (plastic part) to the throttle body.

On mine there is not. Question is...grease or no grease is normal. Can't find anything in the Bentley so will have to rely on general advise.

Also, when I was testing to find the air leak, I disconnected the air intake after the air filter and blocked the connection with my hand. To my surprise, the engine still runs. I can feel healthy vacuum when I put my hand over it, but the engine is still getting air from somewhere...

Please help...dissapointing drivability problems.

Do a search for the phone line mod.... it will beef up that rubber gasket between the plenum and TB.
