Default Anyone ever changed EGR, MAF or O2 sensor?

I am looking to eliminate an exhaust problem by replacing the EGR valve, the air meter (MAF) and the front O2 sensor in my 93/90CS. Has anyone ever replaced any of these components? If so is it possible to get some info or diagrams of removal/installation from you? Much appreciated.

MAF and 02 are easy to change, search the achives. For the MAF system, click on 'The Audi Word' below for a full write-up.

Default before you start buying parts all "*****-nilly" ...

Try some contact cleaner on the MAF sensor (the sensor itself) ...

What is the "exhaust problem" you speak of? Bad smell? Smoke? Rattling?

MAFs and the other parts are expensive.

Default I've done some homework....

I am having catalytic converter problems..The guts are shattering and I have had to replace them twice already...I was told something in the engine is causing the cats to shatter and rattle...so by process of elimination I am going to replace all the known factors which consist of EGR valve, MAF and O2 sensors...Unless you have an idea of what I could do..I checked with an audi tech...who suggested a few things instead of dishing out crazy loot toa dealership service dept....that wont happen....

Default Cats "shatter" from excessive vibration. Any pic's of your exhaust system?

Maybe they were not welded in place correctly?

I have 2 "flex" pipes in my exhaust system to help reduce vibrations. Audi puts the flex pipes on all their 1996+ cars! ;O)

Default I have no flex piping....

I was told the shattered and clogged cats could be anywhere from bad O2 sensors, EGR Valve or MAF-air meter, because my exhaust is also smelling different....I have ordered some flex piping and new cats...but I wanted to do everything just to get to the bottom of the problem...any suggestions?
