Default Anyone want to make a coment on these prices?

I saw this on the VW Vortex, audi disscusion forum. A forum user asked for info on mod'ing a Coupe quattro. Here is a list with prices taht semeone wrote up for him:

Fix vaccum leakes, fix lower arm bushings, fix strut top mounts, alignment, fix all the little things previous owner didn't keep up on. 1500
Turbo 3b or AAN motor. Install yourself - 3000 to 4000
Better brakes to stop faster car. 1500
Better suspension coilovers, sway bars, delrin bushings, 1500
bigger wheels and tires to fit over bigger brakes. 1000
S2/RS2 bumper with fogs and turns. 600
B4 hood to update the looks upainted 300
Euro H1/H4 headlights. 300 Euro RS2headlights 500
Euro rear bumper painted 250
Six speed transmission with mounts, axles, driveshaft 1500
S2/RS2 interior gauges 400 to 600.
Update stereo 400+
S2/RS2 steering wheel. 500
Tint windows 200
Paint all new body addition and door lowers 1000
Upgrades to 3b/AAN motors from 230hp to 350 $4000
Larger FMIC 300 to 400
etc.

My comment is I wish that some of these prices were real, espacially the one for the complete 6 spd tranny and drive alxes, etc.

Default Some of it is accurate, some of it ain't

This stuff seems mighty low.

S2/RS2 bumper with fogs and turns. 600 <--Replica maybe
B4 hood to update the looks upainted 300 <-- aftermarket hood maybe
Euro H1/H4 headlights. 300 Euro RS2headlights 500 <-- too low
Euro rear bumper painted 250 <-- too low
Six speed transmission with mounts, axles, driveshaft 1500 <-- very used from Europe

Then add in plenty of cost to ship all the European parts in, not cheap.

Cheers,

Default the guy who wrote that is on this forum also, I am sure he just wrote things in a rush......

its 90coupequattro, or whatever the screen name is, has the nice white coupe with six speed.

Nothing to toss your panties about. just being probably in the ball park. Not everyone needs to know exact #s.

Default His car was in Eurotuner. It's oh so schweet. Geting a AAN soon.

But I was wondering if these prices are from a cheaper source then we all know about.

Default I was just trying to give a newbie coupe owner some ball park figures

He acted like 4000 was going to get him a lot of mods.

Some of the prices high, some on, some low. All depends on the used parts you want to get.

For instance, you can pick up a used S4/S6 for about 500. And convert to 6 speed with the right parts. Those parts are listed on line.
Recently a used set of S2 axles went for less than 200 Euro on Ebay.de.
Mounts went for less than 150. Of course, you have to put a spacer in the drivers side to fit to coupe. But then again, a 6 speed undercarriage transmission mount just went of less than 150 Euros on Ebay.de.

Of course, any thing you buy from Europe, you can figure about 40 dollars for wire transfer and about 50 to 60 Euros for shipping to the states. So you need to add that to see if you are still below USA prices. Of course, if you can't get them anywhere else...........

There have been used bumpers on Ebay.de recently.

Just all depends on how much of the stuff a person wants to do himself and how much he wants to farm out.

Default Alex, you should make a list out for people who want to mod out a CQ or 90...

to convert to S2/RS2 spec with the stuff you sell.
That way they'll have an idea on the cost instead of guessing at some of the prices. You are the only one on this Forum with the capability to do it. At least we won't be getting questions on
modifications for awhile, no?

Default Could do it, prices fluctuate, exchange is the biggest issue recently. I've done full lists for...

those who have requested them before. I can easily list exactly what is needed for a full RS2 or S2 conversion, but it's very obvious stuff:

RS2 front bumper, headlights, hood (if TYP89), grille, mirrors, door trims, S2 skirts (RS2 are no longer available), center taillight trim, inner taillights, rear bumper, badges.

S2 front bumper, hood w/ stock B4 grille, headlights (H4/H1 early, RS2 late), skirts, taillights, rear bumper, badges.

Note there are specific coupe and sedan S2 parts, since both existed in Europe.

The exterior changeover on the sedans is obviously easier on the CQ or 90 B4. The TYP89 should really switch to the B4 front fenders to fit the RS2 or S2 front bumper for a stock fit. The problem with that is depending on the model TYP89 heavy suspension and front drivetrain modifications must be made to properly center the wheel in the wheel arch.

Fitting the RS2 rear bumper is a big job on all models. TYP89 requires B4 wheel arch mods which is a big job in itself, then modification to the bumper itself for proper mounting.

Cheers,
