Default Body molding and other things

I have a 1989 Audi Coupe 2.3L Front wheel drive euro spec. My first problem is that the body molding is coming off on the driver's side door. How do I fix this? Does anyone sell a body molding kit for the Audis, or is there a universal kit? Second the heat shield on my Catalytic converter is rattling, what can I do here? Can it be fixed? Or do I need to buy a new converter? Third is a performance thing. Do you guys know anyone who makes a header for this engine? So far I haven't found one. My engine is the 10Valve 2.3L I-5. Sorry about the novel, but I have alot of questions. Thanks in advance.

Default All your answers can be found by searching the forum.

You can get the molding from the dealer or www.clairparts.com. The rest I forget the answers to, but I know they have been discussed many times before here.

#1. You can get new lower rubber door moulding from the dealer. In the US this is about $170 per side! I'm looking for an alternative. I want a boundary layer fence in place of the flat rubber trim. (do a search)

#2. Take a stick, go under your car and hit the catalytic converter. If it rattles, it's bad. Replace it soon before it clogs up your exhaust. In the US, a generic replacement from a company called "CATCO" can be had for between $60-80 US. Factory part is in the neighboorhood of $1000. (ripoff). Once again, do a search.

#3. Read this: http://www.humanspeakers.com/audi/hotrod.htm

Default Some have found Clair to be a cheaper source for Audi parts like door mouldings

They are outrageous at full retail at most dealers, as are most parts. Occasionally, you'll find something "normally" priced at an Audi dealer, but there are a ton of after-market sources. Some I like:

www.importpartsauthority.com
www.taylorautomotive.com
www.performancemotorcars.com

I've asked Clair for some quotes on various "Audi-only available" stuff. Haven't heard back yet, but I'm hoping it's cheaper!

http://www.clairparts.com

Can't you just bend the heat shield with your hands so it doesn't rattle?
