Default Brake judder update

I posted a few weeks ago about the brake judder I was experiencing from my Coupe.
After getting one of the mechanics from my local Audi/VW garage to test drive the car, he concluded that my rear discs were warped. The way he tested this was quite simple - he pulled the handbrake up a little whilst driving and lo-and-behold the judder appeared. I wish I'd thought of doing that.
The garage didn't charge me for the diagnosis, but they did quote me £140 to replace the discs, pads and bearings. I'll hang on for now until the judder gets unbearable.
Thanks for your suggestions.
