Can CIS cars run like crap (when cold) due to a bad coolant temp. sensor?

Can CIS cars run like crap (when cold) due to a bad coolant temp. sensor?
The 80 in the past few days has started to run pretty rich and not run right until it starts to warm up. Once it's off the 1st or 2nd peg on the left it's fine. Only happens when it's cold...if it's been running it starts back up and run fine.

And which is the proper switch? ETKA shows a 15C and a 35C coolant temp. switch... [edit]
...both are brown...and the same size (and part number reference on the diagram).

Nor do I, every site but autohausaz only lists the 15C part...
...so I'm thinking that's the right one.
The ones in the pictures show it imprinted on the brass fitting, mine doesn't seem to be...unfortunately.
