Default Can't get my oil drain plug out!!

I don't know what the PO did but I was going to change the oil yesterday in my 90 20V and the drain plug won't budge. I tried an impact wrench (electric) and it broke a cheap socket. I used a Craftsman socket and it rounded the bolt head. At that point I decided to abandon my oil change. I guess I could use a pump to pump the oil out through the dipstick maybe?

Can I change the oil pan without pulling the engine? I'm afraid they did something really stupid here.

Default you can't strip an oil plug!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I'm kidding. I've been there.

You're gonna have to try something like gator-grips or something. Otherwise drop the oil pan. I think the pan can just drop if I recall correctly.

Default oh, I've also done things like regrooved the head

with a Dremel or likes before. It will work. Just gonna obvisouly have to get a new drain plug. Order a bunch when you do just in case. Dems is cheap, like under $3 a pop if even that.

Default what is the year make and model of your car?

I might have an oil pan that I can hook you up with, and the plug is good too.

Default quick side question. the drain plug is the big bolt on the side of the pan?

all other cars I've ever worked on have the drain plug on the bottom of the oil pan. I was under my CQ the other day looking around and the only thing I saw that looked like it could be the drain plug was on the drivers side of the oil pan.

Default I don't know on the 20v

but I think from what I remember its a 19mm socket, most likely on the side of the pan. Well there should only be one drain plug on the pan, so...........

Default I had to use a cold chisel and a hammer on the A4. Scary but worked.

I couldn't get it to budge with a 12" pipe wrench. Just ate the bolt head off.
