Default Car problems? I've got car problems!

1. Engine stumbling - Very stable idle at 900rpm. Stumbling most noticeable at higher gears(normal cruising speed)..stumbles ONLY WHEN I punch the gas.

2. CEL light - intermittently goes on and off

3. ANTILOCK OFF light on dash ALWAYS ON; The one on the middle console between the seats is OFF.

4. Engine running cool than normal - temp gauge needle barely moves up.

5. What do you use to pull the boots off the spark plug. On a v6, the last plug on the right bank cyl is a pain. I get by with a needle nose pliers and/or tiny hook tool. I hate it and want to use a proper tool.

Any helps on all/any of the above is much appreciated.

Default 4 is probably your engine temp sensor...

possibly a thermostat but most likely is the sensor. As for 1 I would check for vac leaks. There is a little rubber elbow hose in the front of your engine which is usually one of the first hoses to go (doesn't mean that is what your problem is). Does your check engine light come on at all?

Default

if you start blowing ABS fuses, then you need a new ABS relay.

Default Well... for 1) my experience has been that stumbling...

at any speed is most commonly related to Ignition.

Last time the spark plug cables, plugs, dist cap and rotor were replaced? Running correct (factory spec) plugs?

4) Cooler engine can be several things, but you need to check if the thermostat is stuck open. Running cool is not good for an engine. The most efficient is to run at the hottest level recommended without over heating (you obviously need a margin).

If it is the sensor and not the thermostat, then your ECU is not getting the correct readings for setting fuel and timing. Clearing up 4 can solve other problems.

5) Gives me a clue and I refer back to 1. If the wires have been yanked off without that "expensive tool" that could be the cause of your missing right there. Plug cables are more easily damaged (internal break, etc) than commonly believed. An expensive tool can prevent that.

Default probably thermostat as i was not getting heat in the

cabin fast enough compared to previous winters and the engine temp gauge needle takes much longer to move up a few notches.

As for 1, i sprayed the plugwires with water..no crackling. plugs then?

CEL comes on/off intermittently

thanks for your response

Default I had a bad plug wire that was undetectable with all the 'usual' methods, but

when I replaced the wires, my missing problem vanished. Just sayin' and all....

Default Plugs changed < a year ago; Wires are about 4 years old at

least. no crackling sound when i spray water on it tho. caps/dist not applicable. WHAT COULD BE IT? I'll check the plugs.

4) Maybe thermostat is stuck open. taking a long time to heat the cabin.

5) A possibility.

thanks for your response
