Default Codes on californian spec. cars

okay, my bentley is packed...hence this post.

My new '88 has a californian ECU. Anyone know how this will change things? I've got a check engine light that blinks or flashes occasionally, though after I've driven the **** out of the car it doesn't do it nearly as often.

Is the procedure for checking the codes the same, or different?

Default I would assume it's the same... insert fuse, wait a second, pull fuse, watch dash....

repeat to pull all the codes and run all the tests.

Why, that not working?
