Default E-brake handle stuck up after snow donuts. Rolls when neutral, so don't think it's actually engaged

Typing on my phone. Basically subject says it all. Any ideas?

The cluster light also says it is engaged, but yeah, it rolls in neutral.

Currently sitting at a restaurant but not sure if I can get under the car anyway. No mechanics open on Sundays. Bleh!

Edit - the snow donuts may just be a coincidence.. when I push the button on the e-brake handle, it seems 'easier' to push than it did before, and very much does not wanna go down.

Default Can't push the handle down at all?

Handle has a ratchet in it... keeps it locked up for the e-brake mechanism.

Should be able to feel if the button is still actuating the ratchet.

Handle connects to a rod that pulls on a bracket that both cables are connected to. Even if cables jam, the bracket slides along the rod... so you should be able to push the handle down, which pushes the rod backwards, through the bracket that the cables are attached to.

If the car rolls, then don't worry and drive it home. You'll know pretty quickly if the brakes are dragging... you can hop out and feel the heat on the brakes.

Take a look under the handle, make sure theres nothing stoping it from going down.

Default Yeah, figured it was the handle, previous snow donuts unrelated then hah..

The button definitely isn't actuating the ratchet, it sticks out way farther than it should, and feels very light.

Looks like I'll have to figure it out tomorrow in the daylight.. guess I can finally change that cigarette lighter ring bulb.. just hope it doesn't take too long, garage is cold.

Default brake LINE to the rear...

Our cars have a single line to the rear... and a 'T' under the drivers side rear seat.

So installing something like this would be relatively easy.

Hardest part would be mounting the unit in the car!

Default Of course... the cost of that setup = new new ebrake lines..

hardest part is having the setup maintain it's lock position.
