Emissions results for the gold beast (passed easily):
These are with the 272 cam and timing set at the stock 15 deg (I normally run at 22 deg, a number arrived at using the stopwatch-hill-dyno, but I wanted to be safe)... the following test was simply to measure the exhaust at idle for 30 sec, at 2500rpm for 30 sec, then again at idle for 30 sec (out of gear the whole time), so pretty basic stuff.
HC PPM (limit is 220):
Idle: 139 2500RPM: 16
CO % (limit is 1.20):
Idle: 0.25 2500RPM: 0.15
CO2 %: 15.0, 15.1
So I was well below the limits. Not bad for an abused, slightly modified little 13 year old 10v motor with 211k miles!
I was hoping I could compare the results to the original emissions test to see what changed with the cam. Unfortunately they don't test for NOx in my new county, and the results of this test are in different unit than the original test (the original test was a much more complex dyno based test, and read in GPM instead of %), so I can't directly compare the two. But in case someone is interested, the original results were, in GPM:
HC: 0.5684 (limit of 3.0)
CO: 7.4490 (limit of 20.0)
NOx: 1.5185 (limit of 6.0)
CO2: 443.2138
HC PPM (limit is 220):
Idle: 139 2500RPM: 16
CO % (limit is 1.20):
Idle: 0.25 2500RPM: 0.15
CO2 %: 15.0, 15.1
