exhaust backfire

when shifting from 1st to 2nd i get a backfire anyone know what this could be?

Howdy! There is no EGR on the 20v except in Cali from what I've seen. The backfire is not something you should be experiencing, ever. What other running problems do you have, if any? There must be other symptoms while running, a backfiring car is not a happy car.

Just had a car with a bad air temp sensor on the egr valve that had backfiring problems

Howdy! The 20v does not have an EGR valve though, nor does the 20v have an air temp sensor either. The V6 fuel system is completely different from the 20v fuel system.
