The fate of my 80....
So, I've decided that I cannot bring myself to part with the 20vt. Here's what I'm thinking, in order of practicality:
A. Buy another B3 Quattro (maybe even a CQ) in good shape, more features, nice interior, etc, with a bad engine (or for really cheap). Swap all my "go-fast" parts into that (engine, suspension, etc).
B. Swap the engine into the 100q Avant. The downside of this is that I like the comfy smooth ride and quietness of the 100. It's a very nice car. I don't want to make it loud and harsh like the 80 is. I might as well get an S6 Avant. That'd be a dream.
C. Keep the 80, gut the interior, go all out track car (seats, brakes, maybe a roll cage). Barely drive it.
D. Buy a Quantum Synchro Wagon, swap the engine into that, have a fast, practical sleeper, but miss out on the Audi comfort (heated seats, leather, etc).
E. Swap it into a 4000q, just because it's lighter and I love the look of the 4000's. Would have to be a REALLY clean 4000 though.
For now, I'm just driving it occasionally just to keep it alive.

Option G. Keep the car "as is"?
Still curious as to why you cant or dont want to keep the car like it is now? Maybe I missed something . If something is wrong with the body or something, or something major, I can understand wanting to swap everything over to another car.
Just curious, I guess I dont know the entire story.
BUT, if "G" isnt part of the equation, A sounds good :P

E. The 4kq is a sweet looking car.
If I had the cash I would have one with a 20vT. Only problem with the 4k is you are going to need to make another body kit if you want something. The good side is well you already have one custom body kit under your belt . Good luck and keep that engine, regardless of what you want to put it in. By the way the 100 is going to be to heavy and to big.

There are several isses with the body and interior that aren't worth fixing...

The rear is tweaked from my event in Canada. Caused the left rear to tweak a bit. There are a few cracks now and the trunk leaks.
Also, one of my ball joints came loose while driving, causing the tire a contact the inside of the wheel well when I stepped on the brakes. This tore up the plastic and a god bit of sheet metal there as well.
The car has damage history, although it doesn't show up on CarFax.
The interior is shot.
