Fiber glass hood questions...
I know this has been covered before...
Where can I get one? How much does it cost?
Most importantly, does it fit like OEM? I don't want some POS that doesn't even fit correctly.
Does it come with all the mounting hardware I will need? Is there room for the window sprayers? Where can I get hood pins that work with my car?
I'm also curious how much a stock hood weighs, and how much the fiber glass hood weighs.
Thanks!
Mike

I've been wondering, if you replace the orig hood with fiberglass
what is done about the hood shocks? the fiberglass would launch right off the car once the safety latch is released Hehe!

My brother's CQ has a fiberglass B4 hood.
He got it from sierra motorsport when they were still making them. Unfourtunatly it required a bit of fabricating to get it to fit. Aluminum blocks were fiberglassed into the the bottom of the hood so the hinges had something to secure to. Its a solid hood, and it's super light, but it wasn't a direct fitment. He paid quite a bit to have it installed and painted. Was it worth it? Maybe. It looks nice, its functional, and sturdy, but it also wasn't the cheapest alternative. It does compliment the RS2 bumper he put on and maybe dropped some weight from the front.

I am using the frame off another hood, it cut out quite easily.
There were no mountings or anything on the fiberglass.

You have to favricate a bracket to fit the shock......
It would be easy to do with some epoxy and an aluminum block. Just epoxy the block in the correct spot on the hood, and attach the shock the same way you would to the stock hood.
I wouldn't want my hood flying off while I was driving. It happened to my friends Passat. it did alot of damage. Hood, fender, windshield.
