First oil change (Mobil 1 0-40)- since the purchase a few months ago
Supposedly it was changed when I purchased the car - I added a can of oil detergent in it when I got the car- since I did not have any history on the car and the engine looked dirty in the oil fill cap. The drain plug was so tight I had to use a sledge hammer to loosen it (carefully of course - and - I had a breaker bar but no cheater one) The drained oil was very black - but that was due to the detergent I expect - as I assume the oil was changed by the dealer before I got the car. The amount of leaks seems small for this car - so I am taking the chance using Mobil 1 (expensive 0-40).
The car is a 95 Audi 90 with ~102K miles - I bought it for my 16yr daughter (some of you remember I think)
I will let everyone know how this 0-40 performs - but it seems to run quicker.

why is it too thin - I've been running it in my A4 for two years
0 only means the behavior at low temps - It means it flows like crazy and helps lube the engine sooner -
with the low mileage on both our cars each month - it means I can run the same oil for both summer and winter.

A4 has a newer design engine. Closer internal tolerances, allow.......
such oil as the 0w series to be run with these newer engines. They are "designed" to run these oils.
The B4 90's engine is an older design. Internal tolerances are greater.
While you could probably run the Mobil 1 0w-40, and never experience any oil related problems, others who push their engine more, might want the heavier weight oils. ;O)
I run Mobil 1 10w-30, have done so for years, without ever any oil related problems.
Let us know how the 0w works out in your 90.

Also put Mobil 1 0-40 in my 90 yesterday (7/2)...
...125k, not one oil leak. Ran Mobil 1 10-30 in it for the past 5k, and no leaks, so we'll see how it does in my car as well.
Both Reggies Daughter's car and mine are late-build '95s with the AFC engine. I ran Mobil 1 in my '96 A4q from 60k-80k with no problems. I'm assuming there won't be any with this car either.
