Default Folks! Has anyone experience failure with the braided fuel supply line? Mine will leak from the

crimped cap-ends; NOT (i repeat, NOT) from the threaded compression connection where it ties into the fuel rail... although I did tighten up that joint and it seemed to help with the leaking past the hose end-cap.

In a resting/static position the line seems to be fine -now, after I snugged up the fitting @ the fuel rail-. But if I moderately force/tweek the line left/right/up/down it will pee out from inside this crimped cap.

Things seem to be alright for the moment, however I can imagine that the problem will worsen. Next question is how in the hell do you replace the braided section?? Yea, it can be undone at the fuel rail, but at the other end there's nothing where it goes straight into the hard line. Help & insight is much appreciated.

oh, btw, ya'll haven't heard from me in a bit because I've been again galavanting around the northern areas of my country. I've settled in Edmonton and will be flight instructing at a little airport 25miles east of the city. Out where I'm living there's only 56k internet, and not very many connections to be gotten at. So my online activity has seriously been crippled. In a couple months when I move into a more urbanized area out here I will again have DSL, so at that point I will resume my normal PW'ing and be more active on MSN.

Default I've heard....

the braided lines are the source of those under-hood fires.

I have one, which looks like it weeps fuel.

Changing them is not too difficult. Depending on your method, tools and equipment.

I'd be interested to see what Audi offers up for a replacement?

You could get a replacement line installed and crimped on just like the OEM. You just need to find someone with the crimping tool, or purchase one.

Mance may have a slick method of replacement? ;O)

Default no sh*t they could be the source of fire..... Luckily when mine had been dripping >>>

it was running down the line and then falling onto the inner fender area (directly below where you've relocated the Vac resevoir).

My leak musta been pretty bad because for some time now after engine shut down I've been able to smell gas fumes from that front passenger side... so there musta been a fairly good puddle. And when I initially torqued that line it literally jetted fuel out; after a bit of playing and the re-tighten however, it doesn't jet anymore just kinda weeps out.

But yea, any good excuse to buy more tools eh, ol' friend ;-) Or else start asking around and see who'd be up for the challenge. There's not much for specialized European garages up here, short of the Audi dealer in downtown Edmonton...but I don't really wanna go there.

In any event I'm going to start snooping around to see what's out there for replacement. Whether I can get just a braided line, or have to have one custom made, or if I get the braided end + form fitted hardline, etc.. It just seems to be the supply line that leaks. Is this the same case for you Mike?

Default A fix...

Find some good high pressure braided fuel line, rated for at least 200psi.

Summit Racings got several different sizes and they are rated at 1000psi. 4ft for $17.

Then 4 good hose clamps-

Default Mine leaked

That is the reason I went with the AN line -6.
just moving them from left to right would cause them to leak or stop.
