Front strut disassembly
I have removed the front struts from my car and I have removed the springs. What is the easiest way to remove the threaded cap that holds the shock absorber in the housing, other than the with the special tool (40-201B according to the bently manual)?
Thanks,
Rob

I guess I have to try harder
That was the first thing I tried, and even with a 5" piece of pipe I couldn't get it to move. I will let it soak with WD-40 and try again tomorrow.

Apply heat to the cap. But not too long as, depending on how gone your old struts are gone, as the struts are under pressure.
But do not heat to put back together will damage the seal in your new cart.
Also don't make the mistake I did, left the spacer that came with the struts in the house and put it all back together. After a good hi-way run relized and then had to take it all apart again...
Poor dad, you should of seen his face when I told him, he has to do all my labour 'cause of my back, I thought he was going to cry.
Those Mopar guys don't enjoy working on these lovely german cars like us audi junkies...
Any good luck....
Oh yeah put a piece of pipe over the pipe wrench for more leaverge so you won't be to sore in the morning..
