Default Has anyone replaced a back-up light sensor?

My back-up lights are not working. I checked the bulbs (look good) and the trunk wires (for pinching) and everything looks fine. I guess my only other option is to try replacing the back-up light sensor. Does anyone know how much the parts costs and if the sensor simply pulls out of the hole?

Default if its anything like mine than...(88 Audi 90 FWD)

you got to remove the transmission to do it and switch costs $153CDN. Thats why I haven't replaced mine, have the problem ever since I got the car.

Default Actually I can see the switch through the engine compartment...

...it sits on top of the transmission case. I'm pretty sure I could get at it with the right tools.

Yes it simply pulls from its hole!

But make sure you clean the dirt from around it before you pull it so the dirt doesnt fall into your gearbox! ;O)

You can actually dismantle the switch and repair it! Its rather simple design. I used the spring from an ink-pen to fix mine! ;O)

Also check the connector, make sure its connected. I've seen the connector come off.

Default Thanks Mike. Where is the connector that I should check?

The switch is really hard to get to... I can barely get a wrench in there so knowing ahead of time which wires to check would be a huge help. Thanks again.

Default check the wires that lead into the trunk!

I can almost bet you the wires that lead into the trunk are bad. I doubt your sensor is bad.
