Default Help me diagnose this thunk?

I'm getting a dull "thunk" from the right front quarter of my car whenever the car changes "position".

This happens:

- When I come to a stop and the car "settles"
- Coming off of a stop when the "settle" breaks

It's a quick, dull "thunk" and it doesn't happen again until I stop or start from a stop. It almost sounds like my spring is creaking or two metals are rubbing against each other. I jacked the corner up and everything seems tight.

I can't figure it out. Any ideas?

Default i had the same thing, after i did a suspension overhaul it went away...

so honestly it could be a few things..i replaced ball joints, tie rod ends, CA bushings, struts, springs.....my guess would be the tie rod end or ball joint though.

Default Here's how I found the thunk in my ladies 90....

1. ID'd where I thought the location of the noise was.
2. I then took a white or orange marker and positioned marked each component I suspected of making a noise.
3. Then drove the car over certain bad pavement areas or recreated the conditions that the noise would manifest itself.
4. Rechecked the marked areas. Then eliminated the areas that showed no change and turned my attention to those that showed small changes.
5. I then used marked "Gorilla Tape" and inserted it or attached it to the the questionable components. Redid the road test.

Got my answer in due time. Her motor mounts were shot
too hell. One had a tear and the other was cracked badly.

Default Clean the springs, then put tape on the suspect springs....

and drive. Then recheck to see if there are rubbing marks.
I doubt if it is the springs unless they are misalinged.
