Here's a nite pic of the White Face Gauges.....

So let me explain this before you evaluate this pic too much. First off, I am not good at taking no flash pictures in a dark room. This is obvious. Second, the white circular lines surrounding the gauge on the inside - I have no idea what those are - not on the guage at all. So here's the scoop...
To rate these gauges on a very picky system, I'd do the following: The gauges during the day are a 10. Obsolutely perfect - I can't believe how well they look during the day - flawless. Our big concern was getting the backlighting set decent enough for driving, while using a darker red so the gauges appeared to match the interior button/switch lights better. When I first got the gauges and installed them in a cluster, honestly I thought the night look was about a 3. So I got on the box on re-evaluating how to make the lighting better. I tried masking certain areas, playing with bulbs and shading, and how I cropped the gauges. The biggest problem I was running into was "light bleed" whereas white light would bleed over the edges in certain areas on the gauge face. Tonight I discovered that in most places, what is happening is that the light is not penetrating through the ink at the edge, but actually refracting through the side of the lexan plastic and shining over the white ink on the back. I can't explain it any better than that, but I remedied the problem, for the most part, by blackening the .015 edge on the gauges. In this picture, you'll notice there is still some light bleed, but it's very minimal. I'm going to do some more touch ups tomorrow, in order to get these down to a system as to insure you guys are as happy as possible with these things. Right now, I think the night lighting is about a 5.5. Luke, who came over yesterday so I could test fit them in his 90, was blown away by how good they looked at night - I still think they need a little work. Like I said, this is a horrible pic, but it gives you an idea - the fuel gauge in this pic came out really dark - I don't know why - and you can see some of the "light bleed" issue in one spot on that guage.

Yep, those are done competely different than ours...
They used about 4 different backing layers, which is why they look better at night, and cost about - eh - 200 dollars more. Thanks though, I always wanted to see what the back of them looked like.
