Default hey mance... about your clunking steering rack....

my front suspension is all brand new, and I have eliminated all other jiggles/clunks, but I still have one strange clunk that seems to occur with suspension rebound. I have a new to me/ rebuilt steering rack that I just installed, and I think I have isolated the play to the shaft on the rack itself, as nothing else seems able to produce this clunk. My question to you is, what direction is the play in your rack that produced this clunk? I will attach a picture to better express the directions I speak of (in my no less than perfect artwork). The play I encountered was of the second example..

Default 1st example on left. And feelable by a hefty up/down/push/pull with some grunt in it...

just a light-to-medium effort is dead silent. And seems on rebound tho its an exceedingly quick noise but definately not at the beginning of any comression stroke tho seemingly right at the exact moment of end-stage compression and split-second onset stage of rebound.

Twisting is a normal occurance in tie-rods with ball joints tho a tight inner sleeve/bushing should prevent any errant noise.
