Default Hmmm an interesting snippet of trivia regarding SSM "clunking" and springs used...

Out of the 4 people contacting me regarding possible bearing replacements and my own personal failed bearing there is a rather obvious recurring theme.

4 out of 5 cars are running Vogtland front springs. We all know my nightmare story with them bottoming out and this "may" be the cause of my failed mount and upper spring perch as well as others.

However I dont want to scare people off who are running Vogtlands and tell them that their bearings will be rplaced, if needed, free of charge regardless of springs used. But if a recurrent theme is found and it leans heavily toward Vogtlands I "may" be forced to limit bearing replacements down the road if there is overwhelming failures on cars running Vogtlands.

Either way I think it prudent at this point to start collecting data on springs used with solid mounts just to see if this latest revelation is coincidence or a valid, recurring theme.

Luxus and all other SSM owners with a "clunk" issue who havent told me the spring they're running please do so I can start a work-sheet on this data.

Default agreed, intresting. do you know of any B4/Vogtland setups that are running the SSM well?

just wondering if anyone has Vogs with ssm who is not experiencing any probs?

Do you still have your vogs on or did you get those coilovers finnished up? Even if you were still running the vogs it is a unfair compairison as I am SHURE your car is MUCH ligther in the fromt than most B4's

I have yet to hear my springs "stack" real hard, but I am shure they have done it as I inspected the paint on the sprngs. they prob have not hit tooo hard yet as my suspension has yet to "settle"

For your list, I am running Vogtlansd with Bilstien HD's

Default I havent been asking chassis info but maybe I should as I only know of "confirmed" issues...

regarding Vogtlands used on B4 cars including my own. And I always attributed that to the heavier front weight of the B4 over the B3 yet the same spring being used on both vehicles.

My car even lightened by over 200lbs up front still bottomed-out like a banshee on Vogtland/Bilstein Sports. I'm on coilovers now but have been running 550#F/450#R rate springs with zero issues for almost 2 months.

What springs are you running?
