Default Yeah, I played with those early-on and still came up "inconclusive"...

I'm just gonna have to go suck the 11S outta my reservoir in 4-6oz increments and substitute with ATF 4-6ozs at a time. Then repeat weekly for a month or so, see what happens. Keep an eye/ear out for tactile/audible differences and see what, if anything, weird happens over the next few months.

But I've just got a sneaking suspicion I'll never notice anything weird. Like I said in my lead-off post there's just too many people that have done the 11s-to-ATF conversion on Audi's, Porsches and BMW's for too many years for it to suddenly/inexplicably take a dump in "just" my car. This has been going on for well over a decade!

When the system takes dumps anyway it would be hard to tell the cause.

Default "if" it takes a dump. My son's old 90CS has had stop leak in it for over 5 years...

and never leaked again. "If" the dump comes I'll just wonder. If it doesn't I'll still wonder but then will probably do ATF right off the bat on the new PS system. Too many others with FAR more spendy cars than mine that came with 11S swear by the ATF.

There are SOOOO many discussions about this at Audi, BMW and Porsche Forums. And the funny thing is everyone that's done it swears by it. Yet EVERYONE that hasn't paints it as a doom & gloom scenario. Some have had it done unintentionally by unknowing techs and didn't even know it till another garage pointed out the wrong color oil. When I've seen those 11S cars in the paddocks of some SCCA regional/national events they're all filled with "red" PS fluid in plastic reservoirs. That ain't Pentosin!! Many have told me "works just as well" and costs 1/20 of 11S. I think it ironic only the people that haven't tried it pooh-pooh the idea while those that have done it just smile at the rest of us like they know something we don't.

Well I just REALLY wanna know ;-)

Default absolutely the unmitigated cheapest "name-brand" non-synthetic I can find...

knowing that by doing this that the best synthetic oil money can buy would likely be even better. Then that's what I'll put in the new PS system after researching it.

Default BG Universal Synthetic Power Steering Fluid

BG Universal Synthetic Power Steering Fluid is a revolutionary 100% synthetic formulation designed for use in all power steering systems and under all conditions. The extremely high viscosity index of this fluid means that it does not appreciably thin when hot nor thicken when cold. BG Universal Synthetic Power Steering Fluid handles sub-zero temperatures at which most fluids fail. Also recommended for automotive central hydraulic systems, shock absorbers, automatic leveling systems and hydraulic systems which operate under extreme temperature conditions or variations.
Part No. 334 64 oz. (1.89L) bottle

Going to give it a shot.
