The spray, called 'Nite Shades' comes in cans sold at Summit Racing(www.summitracing.com)for around $7 a can. Get 2 cans. Then ya got to mask
off you tail lights with masking tape and news papers. Are you good running a paint spray can? Its all hand & eye coordination. Once masked off good to prevent overspray from getting on the rest of the car, ya apply light even coats of the Nite Shades spray. Its very thin, and runs easily, so ya got to be careful not to spray too much at first. You just add more coats until you get the desired level of darkness you want from you lights. Ya got to be good with the spray can though, and have a real eye for painting in such a manner because the stuff is very light and thin. Ya might find yourself a tail light from a salvage yard first, to practice on. Any red tail light will do. The plastic from the lights is such a smooth surface, it makes the spray from the can run easily if your not careful.
While spraying the tint spray will look like whats called "orange peel" texture. Have no fear!
It dries smooth. Dries within several minutes too!
If ya want, send me a set of tail lights, 2 cans of spray, and I'll spray them for ya.

I've known some people who take clear paint, add a few drops of color(just enough to color it, not to make it opaque), and spray the inside of the lens. You have to have a spray gun for this, of course, but it works really well.

My brother half tinted his corrado lights. he wasn't satified with the smoothness so he polished them. they look really good now. Mikes look pretty shinny too, iwonder if he polished his.

You have a black car, a little overspray might not be so tragic. I think I would remove my tail lights first, just to be on the safe side. Did you ever have any trouble at the inspection though? Since you apply this stuff on the outside, doesn't it crack or peel from weather or regular wear and tear?
I saw Tuning Zubehor has real black tail lights for the B4, but at 499.-
a piece(?) I rather try the spray can thing first.
